VISION FILMS ANNOUNCES VOD AND DVD RELEASE OF WISH MAN BIOPIC THE TRUE STORY OF FRANK SHANKWITZ AND THE FOUNDING OF THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION

Los Angeles, CA- August 14, 2019 - Vision Films Inc. (“Vision”) announces the VOD and DVD release of Wish Man, the biopic based on the true story of Frank Shankwitz, a founder of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, from 333 Films and Fresh Cat Productions in association with El Ride Productions. Following its national theatrical release in June, Wish Man will be available on VOD platforms everywhere in the US and Canada on September 3 and DVD on September 10.

Frank Shankwitz (Andrew Steel), an Arizona motorcycle cop with a troubled past, survives a near-fatal accident during a high-speed pursuit. As part of Frank’s rehabilitation, police chief Sgt. Eddie Newman (Robert Pine) asks him to spend time with a terminally ill little boy, Michael (Christian Ganiere), whose dying wish is to be a Highway Patrol motorcycle officer. To Michael, Frank is a hero and an unlikely friendship is born. The boy inspires him to follow a new path, which leads to Frank falling in love with police secretary Kitty Carlisle (Kirby Bliss Blanton) and to being reunited with his long-lost father, Frank Sr. (Bruce Davison), whom he was separated from as a child by his mother (Fay Masterson). Remembering the small acts of kindness he received as a child by a goodhearted employer (Steven Michael Quezada), and the unconditional love of his father, Frank is inspired to pay it forward and creates the Make-A-Wish foundation. One boy’s wish changed a man. One man’s wish changed the world. Based on the true story of Frank Shankwitz.

Lise Romanoff, CEO and Managing Director of Vision Films says, “The compassionate message from Wish Man comes at a great time. Thinking of others’ needs before our own, paying it forward, and creating small changes in the world can lead to a great ripple effect. Wish Man gives us all hope for the future. Vision Films is very proud to provide this optimistic film with a platform to spread the message of good across America.”

“In 2013, I saw Frank Shankwitz bring an audience of 300 people to tears,” said Wish Man director and writer Theo Davies. “He had just recounted the story of how he helped grant the dying wish of a terminally ill 7-year old boy, a couple of weeks before he succumbed to his illness. It was a dramatic, human story, filled with humility, integrity, tragedy, redemption and inspiration. The powerful message is a very simple one - ordinary people are capable of extraordinary acts. It’s a story we need now more than ever.”

“In this modern world of uncertainty and evil, we can inspire our audiences with a strong, uplifting message of hope. After all, we can all make a difference in the world and anyone can be a hero,” adds executive producer, Marc Gold.

The film stars Andrew Steel as Frank Shankwitz (Home & Away, Wonderland), Kirby Bliss Blanton (Project X, The Green Inferno, Death Wish), Robert Pine (CHiPs, Frozen, Independence Day), Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction, Field of Dreams, The Doors), and Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Down, Heat).

Also starring are Danny Trejo (Machete, Desperado, Con Air), Bruce Davison ( X-Men, X-Men 2, Longtime Companion), Steven Michael Quezada (Breaking Bad, Kreep), and Larry Wilcox (CHiPs, The Last Hardmen, Loaded Weapon).

Wish Man VOD will be available on iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay, Vudu, Vimeo, and FandangoNow, and across hundreds of U.S. cable providers including Comcast, Spectrum, Charter, Cox, Verizon Fios, Frontier, Suddenlink, Dish, DirecTV, and more. DVD retailers to be announced.
