J Sunn - Taking The Hip Hop World By Storm With "Up and At It"

J Sunn is soon to come out with huge single that has the support of A- list DJs in the industry. We sat down with the super star. Check out the interview here:

Tell us your name and a little about yourself?

I'm Belizean and from an enormously large family.  I'm a thinker and little edgy person that enjoys different challenges. I started off in the acting and modeling space by accident. I was discovered by Nick Cannon and began modeling for his clothing line and mission “Stop Hating” and also PNB Nation. After being discovered I was offered movie role and made it onto hit the big screen with Ice Cube.

What exactly does your company do?

We create music, melodies and metaphors that people can relate to and touches their inner souls. We believe music heals the soul and helps people get through their day or challenges. I do my best to write music people of all genres age and demographic can relate to.

What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?

My biggest and most serious challenges have been growing up parentless and knowing my mother and brothers were murdered. Being thrown into a horrible foster care system, as well as, getting in touch with and reacquainted with my siblings and extended family. We all have a past and the past it what creates our future. We can live in the past or rise up and make it work for us. I have been through a lot seen a lot and am grateful for my music because maybe my story and or experiences can help someone else.  Seeing your family murdered is something No one ever forgets. Music is my therapy it’s who I am. I use music to inspire others.  It is my goal to be the best me.

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

Stay focused and this is a cut-throat industry. I wish that I was more informed about the long hours, sleepless nights and lots of patience. When people hate you  know you are doing something right. Keep pushing keep going, respect others and know that everyone has their own path. Focus on the journey, the people you met along the way. No need to rush just be and enjoy.

Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?

Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Chris Brown & Nipsy Hussle.

I admire Michael for his compassion and charitable endeavors as he helped so many people.

Tupac was a genius and way ahead of his time. I love the fact that he embraced our culture and told our stories with style and finesse.

Chris is an amazing talent.

Nipsy loved our people and helped the underdogs

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are?

Absolutely. My faith in God. The lessons learned through the good and the bad. I feel all paths crossed or people are put in your life for a reason. Some are for lessons, some for influences and some for guidance. Thankful for all.

What is next for you?

Releasing my single “Up and At It” which we are working on a release party and getting my music out to the masses.

Where can people stay up to date with you?
