GRAVITAS VENTURES ACQUIRES U.S. RIGHTS TO

SLAMDANCE SMASH, ‘HOW TO PLAN AN ORGY IN A SMALL TOWN’

The Raunchy Comedy slated to arrive in theaters and On Demand May 13

Los Angeles, CA (March 23, 2016) — Gravitas Ventures has secured U.S. rights to “How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town” out of the Slamdance Film Festival. The independent film distributor has announced the film’s simultaneous theatrical and On Demand release as May 13. The cast includes Jewel Staite (“The Killing,” “Serenity”), Lauren Holly (“NCIS”) and Katharine Isabelle (“Hannibal,” “Ginger Snaps”).

Wholesome Beaver’s Ridge is a tight-knit community known for its fervent emphasis on family values… until “town slut” turned sex columnist Cassie Cranston (Staite) returns for her mother’s funeral. When Cassie was shunned from the community years before due to a sex scandal at a house party, she ran away to the big city and became a sex columnist, publicly labeling the town prudish and thus widening the gap between her and her former life there. But when she’s forced to return home, a group of eclectic town folk are inspired try to plan an orgy and beg Cassie to serve as their mentor. Things spice up in Beaver’s Ridge when each person’s ulterior motive is revealed and the orgy – which is awkward all on its own – takes on a surprise new meaning.

"We're very excited to be working with Gravitas in expanding this film in a big way into the United States,” said Director Jeremy LaLonde. “It's important to have a strong team at an Orgy and we know working with them that things are about to get sexy!"

“The characters in this film manage to be hilarious and a little crazy while also being relatable,” said Sr. Director of Acquisitions for Gravitas, Dan Fisher. “‘How to Plan an Orgy In A Small Town’ is the definitive guide to planning an orgy in a small town and we are delighted to bring this warm, winning, and downright dirty comedy to audiences across the U.S.”

Written and directed by Jeremy LaLonde (“Sex After Kids”), “How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town” was produced by Jordan Walker (“The Privileged”) and Chris Bennett (“Solo”).  The deal was negotiated by Dan Fisher from Gravitas Ventures and by Jason Moring of DDI on behalf of the filmmakers.
