Citymeals on Wheels (citymeals.org) provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to New York City's homebound elderly. Working in partnership with community based organizations and senior centers, Citymeals prepares and delivers over 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals for more than 18,000 of our frail aged neighbors each year. Last year, over 21,000 volunteers gave nearly 68,000 hours of their time to support their mission. Since its founding in 1981, Citymeals has relied on the generosity of its Board of Directors, the City of New York, sponsors and other designated gifts to cover administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of all public donations will be used entirely for the preparation and delivery of meals.

Giving back to community, "Meals on Wheels organizations have a special place in our hearts. My mom suffering from dementiahad meals delivered to her in the early stages of her illness. My mom could no longer cook and didn't want to eat. The only time she would eat was when the volunteer from Meals on Wheels would stop by her apartment to  say hello and deliver her food. I really believe it saved her life until we were able to get her an around the clock home Aid. If they saw something of concern they would let family know immediately. They are angels looking over loved ones in time of need," says Billy Hess, VP of Mark De Alwis Salon.

There will be raffles sold at the event of which the proceeds will go to the NYC City Meals on Wheels program.

Don't Miss the NY Fashion Week "Meals On Heels" Hair Fashion Show Extravaganza at the Mark De Alwis Salon on Monday, February 12th, 2018.
