On May 16th, 2019, the SVTV Network launched a new TV program certain to revolutionize the television industry. The series, "STUD MODEL PROJECT: The Series,” created by Teresa Morcho and produced by Sheri Johnson, premiered with triumphant success and will air the next episode on Thursday May 31st.
The landmark reality competition is searching for America's sexiest LGBTQ stud model, and strives to crush the confines of labels placed upon the dominant within the LGBTQ community, and disrupt the gender norms that the world defines. The series features diverse cast members sharing stories and reflecting on their identities. It features the sexiest stud models wearing the hottest designs in fashion, all taking place in a mansion in Atlanta, Georgia.
We caught up with creator Teresa Morcho for her take on the show's raving reviews....
What was the reactions to the first episode of the series?
Oh my goodness, everyone has reacted almost simultaneously and unanimously about how they feel. They all say it's such a feel-good show, they say there is nothing out there like this. I've had people from the trans community reach out to me telling me that they have transitioned from being a stud to a man but stated "even I felt like I could relate to what you were doing and to the characters". People were saying it's just too short and and asking when the next one would air. I had all these questions from all of these people that are so excited to just see themselves represented. That's the reaction we were getting the most, excitement overall.
How did you feel personally seeing your creation being realized?
I felt so vulnerable. I'm so extremely vulnerable. It was like birthing a child into the world. Initially I did not want to be the face, I just wanted to be that person behind the scenes. When we started planning the show and we kept going on I realized at that point that I need to tell the story because I didn't think anybody else would be able to convey the story this way. Seeing myself on TV for the first time and hearing my voice it was just vulnerable to say the least. I was excited too though. I was excited to see everyone's reaction.
Where did you view the program?
I sat back, we had a watch party at my house. I went live on Facebook and the rest of the cast members went live on IInstagram. So I just sat back and watched everyone's reaction. There was a lot of laughter, people even said I was funny, so I was happy with that.
I know it's a little early to make any predictions but as the creator of this gender breaking boundary show, what are your thoughts as far as a winner?
I have my predictions...
But you're not saying it are you?
I am not telling because it's going to take everyone by surprise, I think. Everyone is going to be shocked I think.....
